March Fashion Trends: Peplum Tops and Statement Hats

March signals a turning point. The air warms, layers lighten, and the mood shifts toward fresh ideas and inspiration. As we step into a new season, these are the silhouettes and pieces catching my eye this month. Let me know which ones you’re most excited about!

Peplum Top: Spring ’26 runways were filled with the peplum silhouette. This version from Stella McCartney elevates a classic button-down and pairs effortlessly with jeans or layered under a cable-knit cardigan. It’s structured yet feminine, an easy way to refresh everyday staples.

Napoleon Jacket: Fashion constantly looks to the past to reinvent the present. From the Renaissance to the ’80s to my era — the 2000s, the Napoleon Jacket continues to resurface. There are so many incredible vintage options available, which makes it easy to try this trend in a sustainable way.

Statement Hats: How fun is this kiss-lock frame pillbox hat from Alina Ispas? I love that hats are making a comeback. They can add depth and a distinct point of view to an outfit. Pillbox styles are especially popular right now, but any cool, statement-making hat is a great addition to your closet.

Statement Mules: The weather isn’t quite ready for open-toe silhouettes which makes mules the perfect early-spring staple. Make it fun with bold colors, interesting textures, or embellishments that let the shoe be the moment. I love these from the brand Calla Paris. They easily inspire a DIY upcycle using yarn or fringe on an older pair already in your wardrobe.

Tracksuit: Sports continue to influence the way we dress, so it is no surprise that the tracksuit has re-emerged. Athletic-inspired details and relaxed silhouettes make tracksuits an easy go-to, feeling effortless yet intentional. This bright blue hue was spotted on Fall ’26 runways, but I love this version from Lacoste’s Spring ’26 show. Think bold primary colors that bring a nostalgic, playful energy to the trend.

The Peplum Top

Play with volume with a peplum silhouette and relaxed denim. Layer under a cropped trench coat and allow the hem to subtly flare out. For evening, pair with a sleek midi skirt and pointed heels to elevate. Keep accessories minimal, but don’t be afraid to add a pop of color, like I did with this Madewell bag.

The Napoleon Jacket

The Napoleon jacket is a great layering piece for spring. Offset the formality of this style with a vintage denim option and a simple, draped tank and skirt. For accessories, mix in metals for a dressier touch and add a casual bag to keep the outfit grounded. To elevate, lean into the drama with monochrome styling like the Khaite runway image above.

Statement Hats

Make your accessories the conversation starter. Use the trendy pillbox hat to elevate a monochromatic outfit. Keep hair sleek and simple to avoid visual overload.

Statement Mules

The mule isn’t just practical; it’s the focal point. Let them anchor cuffed denim and an easy, yet elevated top. Pair with unique and quirky accessories that add to the interest.

The Tracksuit

The tracksuit has evolved beyond off-duty comfort. Opt for a tailored cut rather than slouchy proportions, or a skirt and jacket combo like shown here. Add a sleek leather sneaker or a pointed heel for contrast. Keep jewelry polished with easy dangles or a cuff bracelet for added refinement.
