June Fashion Trends

After a short break in May, I’m back with a fresh roundup of the trends inspiring my wardrobe this June. As summer settles in, I’m craving a slower pace filled with creativity, craft, and a little more daydreaming. Unsurprisingly, the trends catching my eye reflect that mood: effortless, playful, and slightly whimsical. Ahead are the five trends shaping my style this month.

The Apron Dress

The Apron Dress: The Miu Miu inspiration above is a masterclass in summer layering and perfectly captures why I’m drawn to the apron dress this season. Equal parts nostalgic and unexpected, it taps into the ongoing vintage revival while leaving plenty of room for personal styling.

The best part of this trend is how accessible it is. Authentic vintage aprons can be found everywhere from antique malls to flea markets, while retailers from Anthropologie to Amazon offer modern interpretations.

What keeps the apron dress feeling modern is thoughtful layering. Pair a neutral apron with bold color and print underneath, or embrace maximalism with mixed patterns that create visual interest. Here, I styled a vintage checked apron over a chunky striped polo and Bermuda-length denim shorts for a playful yet contemporary feel. Gold hoops, crisp white sneakers, and a whimsical Ganni bag complete the look.

The Asymmetrical Top

If the clavicle is summer’s most underrated accessory, as fashion icon Stacy London suggests, then the asymmetrical top is its perfect companion. Equal parts polished and alluring, this silhouette instantly elevates the basic tank or tee while remaining surprisingly versatile.

Let the silhouette do the work and keep the styling streamlined. I paired an off-the-shoulder top with butter-yellow shorts and finished the look with warm-weather essentials: oversized sunglasses, a woven top-handle bag, wooden bangles, and a season favorite, thong sandals. It’s an effortless formula that works equally well for brunch, errands, or dinner.

Upcycled/Handcrafted

One of my favorite things about summer is the extra daylight, which always inspires me to reconnect with creative projects. This year, I’m finally tackling the upcycling pile that’s been patiently waiting in my garage. From patchwork skirts to quilted bags, I’ve saved endless inspiration and can’t wait to bring some of it to life.

Recently, I discovered the incredible upcycled brand NTUNGA while vintage shopping in Las Vegas, and their reconstructed denim and fleece pieces immediately sparked new ideas.

While the outfit inspo wasn’t handmade by me, it perfectly captures the spirit of the trend: personal, imaginative, and joyfully imperfect. The Rachel Antonoff spritz top paired with a bow-adorned skirt creates a whimsical foundation, while bold accessories add just the right amount of playful color.

Fashion Flip Flops

While I touched on toe-post heels in my last post, June belongs to the humble flip-flop. Once reserved for pool decks and beach vacations, the flip-flop has officially earned fashion status this season. Whether slim, chunky, heeled, or wedged, there’s a version for every aesthetic.

One of my favorite ways to style them is with a halter-neck denim mini dress. Together they create the kind of effortless ease that defines great summer dressing. Finish the look with statement sunglasses, a vintage chain belt, and an animal-print tote for a touch of personality.

Body Jewelry/Belt Chain

Recently, I’ve been sourcing vintage body chains from the ’60s through the ’90s, and they’ve quickly become one of my favorite styling tools. Their versatility is what makes them so compelling, wear them as belts, necklaces, bracelets, or layered accents that add interest to even the simplest outfit.

The secret is letting the jewelry take center stage. This look combines several of this month’s trends: asymmetry, thong sandals, and body chains, but the metallic layers remain the focal point. I especially love styling them over slip dresses or incorporating them into beach outfits where they can catch the light and add a touch of glamour.
