I ADORE a good thrift store and by ADORE I mean LOVE LOVE LOVE! I have been going to thrift stores my whole life. I grew up in a family that wasn’t able to buy from the name brand, cool stores so most of my outfits were handmade by by mother or grandmother, were hand-me-downs, or purchased at Walmart or at…thrift stores. Nowadays I can afford to shop at some of those big departments stores. Though I love them, more often than not, I still prefer thrift store finds. Not only am I finding top brands and designers in these thrifty nifty stores for way WAY less money, but I often find the coolest, most unique pieces from all sorts of decades. Unique outfits is my jam, my goal.
I’ve been wearing more vintage pieces lately to be more eco-friendly, too. I just love the quality and uniqueness of chic vintage pieces. Plus, thrifting is cheaper. I mean, who doesn’t love a good bargain? But be sure to always wash your newly thrifted pieces following the care instructions (read the labels). If there are no care instructions then it is best to hand wash or let the dry cleaner take care of it. In future posts I will be sharing tips on ways to wash and care for thrifted and vintage items as well as providing tips on repairs that they may need to help them last longer.
Have you ever gone thrifting? What are some things you look for? What is something cool you found while thrifting? Any questions for me on the art of thrifting? Item care? Cleaning your new gems? Ask away!
