The Classic White Silky Grandma Blouse
I have quite a few of these silky blouses in my closet. I got several of them through Etsy a few years ago when I worked on a production of The Pirates of Penzance for my husband’s theatre company. I had the actresses wear these frilly, pretty blouses with these huge, colorful skirts. It was a fun look for sure! I kept a few blouses after the show closed but never wore them! I always found them hard to style without looking dated, but they were too beautiful to just donate. While quarantining, I have been going through my closet and my clothes in storage and rediscovered these blouses and thought that if I am going to keep them I needed some good go-to outfit options. They are after all, really on trend for 2020 and I needed to get with it!
How To Style
- Inject Color. The easiest place to pop in some color is with accessories, so I’ve done that with my belts, earrings, and shoes!
- Pair with Modern Pieces. Balance the vintage pieces with more modern silhouettes, fabrics and brands. I paired the blouse with pants from Zara and American Eagle to contrast the vintage look of the blouse.
- Layer. Play around with layering over the blouses with vests, sweaters, or in my case a dress.
Next, I have styled up one crazy 80’s does Victorian eyelet and lace ruffle blouse. This blouse has a lot going on, but it is so fun! This top is voluminous, so I kept things tighter on bottom to be more balanced. My last look does have wide leg pants and suspenders for a bit of over the top volume fun. I mean, I had to go all out for at least one look! I also posted a little speedy video on my YouTube channel on how I put the below looks together.
If your looking for a fun vintage white blouse like these I highly recommend looking through sellers on Etsy. I have a few fun ones that are still available below. Simply click on the image to be taken directly to that listing.
